Responsibilities
Under general supervision of the nursing supervisor, provide
services to the faculty members and medical staff in the Hematology/Oncology practice.  Major functions include
patient treatments and surgical set-up.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Medical Assistant diploma/certificate from an authorized program by the Department of Education or post secondary institution accredited or approved by the bureau of Private Post Secondary and Vocational education in the Department of Consumer Affairs
  • Venipuncture Certificate
  • BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Knowledge of medical terminology to record pre-admit diagnosis on admissions forms
  • Skill in writing grammatically correct routine business correspondence such as brief transmittal memoranda
  • Skill in writing concise, logical, grammatically correct analytical reports to explain patient progress and charting
  • Skill in reading English words, simple sentences and numbers on documents so they can properly be compiled and filed
  • Skill in reading medical documents, such as correspondence from health professionals
  • Ability to speak on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain information; explain policies and procedures; and explain medical treatment procedures
  • Skill in speaking and with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds to explain policies, procedures and treatment in the Hematology/Oncology clinic
  • Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly using correct English receive and route phone calls
  • Skill in analyzing information, problem situations, practices or procedures to define the problem or objective and formulate logical and objective conclusions
